MRI / MRA
Getting prepared for your MRI/MRA is easy. Most scans require little or no preparation before your appointment. Please read and follow the instructions below to make sure we can perform the best study possible.
You must bring your prescription (order form) with you to the examination. If you have any questions regarding these instructions, call 703-588-8500.
Please choose from one of the following examinations to view the study intructions:
MRI of the Abdomen / Pancreas / Kidneys
Instructions:
- Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours prior to the exam
MR Defecography
Instructions:
On the day before the examination:
- Drink 1 bottle of X-Prep or Magnesium Citrate at 3PM.
- Drink only clear liquids from 3PM until midnight. (No solid food)
- Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
MR Rectal Cancer Protocol
Instructions:
On the day before the examination:
- Drink 1 bottle of X-Prep or Magnesium Citrate at 3PM.
- Drink only clear liquids from 3PM until midnight. (No solid food)
- Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
MRA Runoff
Instructions:
- Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours prior to the exam
